Panattoni Europe’s Amazon facility in Prague earns BREEAM ‘Excellent’

19 November 2015

Panattoni Europe has received an ā€˜Excellent’ BREEAM certification rating for the logistics warehouse built for Amazon at Panattoni Park Prague Airport I. With its scoring of 76.8 percent, the premises assume first place within its category ā€˜novel logistics premises’ in the Czech Republic. Pavel Sovička, Managing Director for the Czech Republic and Slovakia, says the facility achieved ā€œthe highest scoring ever received for the Amazon completed projects in the whole world.ā€

Special attention was paid to heat recovery, the use of LED lighting sensors, installation of meters for all utilities, an intelligent building management system (BMS). In addition, along with gas heating for most of the buildings, increased wall and roof insulation and careful waste disposal during the construction, the developer also planted a wide variety of trees and local greenery to maintain the character of the landscape. It was on this basis that the British Council awarded the ‘Amazon Fulfillment Centre’ with a BREEAM certificate for Interim Design ‘Excellent’.

In order to minimize the impact the carbon footprint involved in operating the facility, 10 bus stops were completed to provide transportation options for people working there, including locations at the Zličƭn metro station, in Kladno and in other adjacent towns.

Amazon’s is the largest industrial building ever built in the Czech Republic, with a total rentable area of over 133,000 square meters. It won the Best Warehouse/Industrial Development of the Year prize at the CEE Investment & Green Building Awards in October and Panattoni Europe also won Best Warehouse Space at the Best of Realty competition in the Czech Republic. It’s the first project together with Amazon Fulfillment Centre acquired by AEW Europe on behalf of LOGISTIS in the Czech Republic.
