Leoni, a Serbian manufacturer of automotive cables for Jaguar and Land Rover, has begun operations of its new factory in Nis, southern Serbia, following a €21m investment. Government subsidies for the project amounted to €10.5m. Work on the 25,000 sqm plant began in the summer of 2013 and will result in the hiring of 1,700 people.
Trial production began in April 2014, but it’s taken until this week to complete the employment process and ramp up full production. The milestone was marked by a ceremony attended by the German Ambassador Axel Dittmann and the president of Serbia’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry Marko Cade
