A new Dodge Data & Analytics report finds that building permits for commercial developments in Central Florida totaled $1.38 billion between January and September of this year. That’s 56 percent jump compared to the $885.7 million total reported for the same nine month period of 2014. The report takes into consideration permits that are pulled for office, retail, hotels, warehouses, schools, medical facilities and religious institution projects.
The numbers for residential permits also rose. In all, home builders pulled permits totaling $3.5 billion between January and September, an increase of 27 percent over the first three quarters of 2014. Residential construction accounted for $348.5 million of that total for this year, 59 percent higher than in September 2014, when the total value was $219.2 million.
