EC to pour CZK 9bn into Czech transport infrastructure

The European Commission is planning to invest CZK 9bn into the modernization of Czech railways and motorways. The money will also be used to improve Czech infrastructure connections to the European transport network. The EC has greenlighted four projects. The modernization of the railway from Tábor to Sudoměřice, which is part of the railway corridor connecting Prague to the Austrian border in Dolní Dvořiště will cost the EU €46.5m and will increase train speeds to 160km per hour. The EU also decided to pour €83m into the construction of the Kolín by-pass and €157m into a new road between Opava and Ostrava. Modernization of the express road between Semetín and Bystřička in Vsetín region will cost €157m.
