The unemployment rate in the UK dropped to 5.4 percent, a seven-year low, between June and August, according to a labor market report published by the Office for National Statistics. The number of unemployed people fell by 79,000 to 1.7 million during the three-month period. This is the lowest unemployment rate since the second quarter of 2008. The figure beat earlier forecasts of 5.5 percent.
