Matador Automotive is planning to expand production in Slovakia with a new manufacturing plant in Nitra. The car parts producer will invest €22.4m into the construction of the plant and intends to add 170 new jobs to the local market. The company is in discussions with the Slovak government about incentives. The director of Matador Holding, Martin Kele, told Trend.sk that car producers are expanding their production capacity which is forcing suppliers to expand as well. Matador is vying to become the supplier of the Volkswagen plant in Bratislava. VW is currently preparing to launch a new generation of Volkswagen Touaregs and Porsche Cayennes. Matador will build its new plant in the vicinity of its existing facility. Construction is expected to take three years. The manufacturer plans to buy the land this year. Construction on the first phase is set to break ground in 2016, with production scheduled to start at the end of the year. The second phase is planned for 2017-19.
