Mátrai Erőmű opened a 16 MW solar power plant in Visonta, northern Hungary. The facility is the largest solar power plant in the country. Half of the HUF 6.5bn project was covered by a development tax break. Germanyʼs RWE-EnBW owns 74 percent of Mátrai Erőmű and the state-owned Hungarian Electrical Works (MVM) controls a 24-percent stake. Mátrai Erőmű operates Hungaryʼs largest lignite-fueled power plant, which has a capacity of 950 MW.
