Holcim sells Slovak assets to Irish CMR

29 September 2015

Holcim is selling its assets in Slovakia to CMR. The step is part of the Holcim-Lafarge merger. Holcim and Lafarge agreed to offload €6.5bn of assets across Europe to gain approval from antimonopoly regulators. The offer attracted interest from a number of financial groups, including Blackstone, TPG Capital, CVC and KKR. CMR, a construction materials producer, won a portfolio of assets in 11 countries including Canada, France, Germany, the UK, Brazil and the Philippines. In the CEE region, CMR acquired businesses included in the North Danube cluster. In Slovakia, the Irish company took over Ecorec, an alternative fuels producer, and two logistic companies, Transplus and Pulltrans. Holcim will keep its financial service center in Košice.
