WCI marks return to residential sector in Bonita Springs

21 September 2015

Bonita Springs-based WCI Communities has broken ground on its first condominium project in over 8 years. WCI was a major player during the boom years with 29 condominium towers under construction and more than $1 billion reported in new condo sales. But the down turn in the market forced the company into bankruptcy reorganization for a short time in 2009, re-emerging principally as a single-family homebuilder through the recovery.

WCI is looking for upscale clientele for the new project, which is called Altaira at The Colony Golf and Bay Club in Bonita Springs. The 76-unit tower will have 19 residential floors with units of up to 3,500 sq ft of living space and prices starting at $1 million. The project is slated for completion in the second quarter of 2017.

“WCI will continue to set the standard for high-rise living, as we have throughout our company’s history,” says Paul Erhardt, senior vice president of homebuilding and development .
