Renewable energy, including nuclear as well as green energy, will be Hungary’s most cost-efficient energy source by 2020, according to a study conducted by the International Energy Agency (IEA) and NEA. The study, which looked at 181 power plants, says the country has seen a rapid decrease in renewable technology, mainly of solar and wind, in recent years. The IEA and NEA also found that it is difficult to receive a subsidy for green energy investments in Hungary, where household energy prices are subsidized by the state, and virtually impossible to receive a state subsidy for wind turbines.
