The Hungarian hotel sector reported an increase in occupancy for the first six months of the year, according to a new report from the Hungarian Hotel and Restaurant Association. Despite a decrease in the number of Russian and Ukrainian guests, occupancy jumped 5.9 percent to 8.35 million guests in the first half of 2015. Hungarian tourists spent a total of 3.54 million guest nights, up 8.2 percent y-o-y, while foreign guest nights increased by 4.3 percent to 4.8 million. Guest nights spent in Budapest were up 7.9 percent, totaling 3.6 million. The average occupancy rate at Hungarian hotels was 49.2 percent, up 2.4 percent y-o-y.
