A new report from CoreLogic finds that Central Florida led the nation in distressed home sales in May. Distressed sales (bank repossessions and short sales) accounted for 24.6 percent of total homes sales for the Orlando-Kissimmee-Sanford area in May, the highest among the 25 largest metropolitan statistical areas. Coming in at number two was Miami-Miami Beach-Kendall with 23.3 percent while Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater ranked third highest 22.9 percent. They were followed by Chicago-Naperville-Arlington Heights (22.2 percent) and Baltimore-Columbia-Towson, Md. where 20.1 percent of transactions were distressed sales. In the state rankings, Michigan fared worst with 21.4 percent followed closely by Florida with 21.3 percent.
