Czech unemployment falls to 5% in July

31 July 2015

Unemployment fell again in July to 5 percent, a fall of 1.2 percent compared to July 2014. The Czech statistics says the figure is the lowest since the crisis hit in the last decade and that the current pool of unemployed workers in the country is 261,700, which is 60,000 less than a year ago. In December 2008, writes Hospodarske noviny, the unemployment figure fell to 5.7 percent. The statistics office predicts that unemployment among Czechs will not fall any further, however, and that Czech companies will have to begin hiring foreigners in order to expand their work forces.
