CCRC Development Corp. is looking to build a $100 million senior-living community called Legacy Pointe in Oviedo. The company is looking to either buy or lease the 60 acres of land from it’s current owner, the University of Central Florida Foundation. The project is scheduled to break ground in mid- to late 2017, as long as at least 70 percent of the 338 units are pre-leased. The plans still need to go before the Seminole County Planning and Zoning board and then the county commission for approval.
“There is a great need for this,” said Zan Reynolds, executive director of real estate at the UCF Foundation. “Seminole County is projected to see a 44-percent growth rate of seniors over the next 10 years, while the rest of Florida is expecting just a 35-percent growth.”
