The Czech government appears to be succeeding in its promise to improve the prospects for employment in the country. According to the most recent figures from the Czech Statistics Office, the number of people in search of work fell by 14,294 to 451,395, or 6.2 percent of the eligible workforce. The government is crediting its active use of pro-employment policies and pro-growth politics for the improvement, including more efficient use of EU funds and government investments into infrastructure. A year before, unemployment stood at 7.4 percent. Construction output increased 11.9 percent compared to the month before, or 6.4 percent over the last year.
