The Canadian company Barakat Industries is set to break ground in the fall on a new Element by Westin. The new 157-room hotel will be located on a 2.35 acre site on Carrier Drive in the heart of Orlando’s tourist district. The $27 million project is being planned to meet LEED certificate requirements and will feature a green roof. Barakat bought the property for $1.7 million in July of 2014. The Maryland consulting firm Goldsmith Consulting Design Associates has been hired to be the project developer.
