The Florida Department of Economic Opportunity reports that unemployment was down in Broward and Palm beach counties but rose sharply in Miami-Dade County. Broward County’s jobless rate in March was 5.2 percent, which is a drop from 6.1 percent in March of last year. Palm Beach County’s numbers were even better, reaching 5.0 percent in March, down from 6.3 percent for March of last year. Miami Dade county’s jobless rate remained higher than average at 6.2 percent, but this was still an improvement from 12 months ago when the rate was 7.5 percent. Statewide, the unemployment rate was 5.7 percent in March down from 6.5 percent in March of 2014.
