According to a report from RealtyTrac, home prices in the Cape Coral-Fort Myers market have doubled since 2010. Buying a home in Lee county typically cost $151,500 in Febuary, more than twice the median price reported in November 2010 of $74,900. This represents the fourth largest increase in the country only behind Detriot, Grand Rapids, Michigan and San Francisco. Cape Coral and FortMyers were the only Florida cities to get just a bounce in prices since the market bottomed out. The RealtyTrac report looked at areas with a population of 500,000 of more.
