UK economy grows by 2.8% in 2014

The UK economy grew by 2.8 percent in 2014, up from an earlier estimate of 2.6 percent, according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS). This is the UK’s highest annual growth rate since 2006, when the economy grew by 3 percent. Last year’s rate was boosted by a better-than-expected Q4 performance. The economy grew by 0.6 percent in the last three months of 2014, up from an earlier forecast of 0.5 percent, reports the ONS. Consumer confidence was at its highest level in more than a decade in March, according to a survey b GfK.
