Errant email over Skoda Palace trouble for Prague mayor

31 March 2015

A misplaced email concerning the city of Prague pays for its headquarters has landed mayor Adriana Krnacova in all sorts of trouble, as she sent it by mistake to a member of the opposition TOP 09 party with the same name as her advisor. In this email, she allegedly reveals that Copa Retail had demanded that the city change its legal representation before any agreement could be possible. The city has been trying to get its rent (CZK 200m per year) for the Skoda Palace in central Prague reduced. Mayor Krnacova claims the choice of the legal firm took place transparently through a standard tender which included three bidders. The winner of the tender was AK Kocian Solc Balastik and the city council approved a contract with the company earlier in March.
