26 March 2015

Construction on Prague’s fourth metro line could break ground in two years, according to Metroprojekt, the company in charge of the project’s design and preparations. The D line, connecting Náměstí Míru in Prague 2 to Písnice-Prague 4, is expected to cost CZK 45bn including land buyouts and P+R parking lots. Construction should start in 2017 and is expected to take five to six years. David Krása, general director at Metroprojekt, intends to launch the tender for general contractor next year. Petr Dolínek, Prague’s deputy mayor in charge of transport, plans to ask the government to co-finance the metro line and also wants to tap EU funds. Prague administrators earmarked CZK 600m from the city’s 2015 budget to finance the preparation of the project.
