Georgia-based American Maglev Technology has chosen Ricardo as its engineering consultant to handle the design, engineering and integration of the trains and propulsion systems. This system will be used for the planned $400 million passenger rail line that will connect Orlando International Airport and the Orange County Convention Center. The global engineering firm is to start immediately on rail car development with a delivery goal of the first two cars by next summer. The 13.7 mile line will include up to seven stations including one at the airport’s new Intermodal Transportation Facility, one at the Florida Mall along with stops on Orlando’s International Drive tourist corridor. Maglev is supposed to be operational by 2017.
