The Central Florida Expressway Authority has announced that it has securing financing from the Transportation Infrastructure & Finance Act program for its part of the Wekiva Parkway project. The funding will allow the authority to speed up construction work by as much as 18 months and potentially save $260 million in bond interest payments. The parkway is currently scheduled to be finished in 2019, but with the additional funding, construction could be completed in early 2018. The $1.6 billion, 25-mile expressway will connect the Wekvia Parkway (State Road 429) to State Road 417.
