The Czech Transport Ministry wants to start construction on 223 km of new roads and motorways in 2016. However, officials need to prepare the projects faster if they are to meet deadline goals, says Transport Minister Dan Ťok. Work is scheduled to start on 126 km of roads, speedways and motorways this year, including a repair of a 15 km stretch of the D1 motorway, connecting Prague to Brno.
Ťok says that officials can shorten the preparation process considerably from the current 10 years if they work more efficiently. He claims they don’t need wait for a change to the construction law that will integrate zoning with the construction permit and EIA process, as it will be another one and half to two years before the new law takes effect, writes e15.
The D1 section between Přerov and Lipník and four sections of the D3 between Veselí nad Lužnicí and Úsilný are among the most important projects. They were originally scheduled for completion last year.
