Czech billionaire Zdeněk Bakala, one of the major property owners in the Moravian-Silesian region, is in negotiations with a Korean producer that is considering expanding to the Czech Republic. The unnamed Korean investor is interested in a 10 ha site in the František industrial zone near the city of Karviná. Bakala, who acquired the properties around Karviná when he bought the OKD mining business, plans to redevelop part of the land into industrial zones through that company’s property arm, Asental Group, which is led by Anthony Caine. The company already sold a 7 ha site to Mölnlycke Health Care, a Swedish surgical instrument manufacturer. The Swedish company plans to invest CZK 1.6bn in Karviná and create 300 jobs.
