There were 413,800 registered job seekers in Hungary at the end of January, down 5.3 percent from a year earlier, according to the National Labor Office. However, the latest unemployment rate figures were up 5.8 percent from December 2014. At the end of January, 101,500 people or 24.5 percent of the total registered job seekers have been unemployed for more than a year. A total of 23,400 job vacancies came on-line in January. Of these vacancies, 10,200 were vacancies that were not subsidized by the state. Vacancies related to various public work positions or other subsidized jobs totaled 13,200.
