Bucharest City Hall and Students Sports Club are arguing that Herastrau Park, one of the biggest parks in the capital, should remain property of the state. A court recently ruled that 7 ha of park land would be transferred to Biroul de Turism şi Tranzacţii SA. City Hall is appealing that decision.
“The entire area of 7 ha is property of the public domain,” Bucharest Mayor Sorin Oprescu said outside of the appeal court this week. If the decision is upheld restaurants and cafes that are operating in the park may be forced to close.
