Kaufland is planning to open new nine hypermarkets on the Romanian market in September. New locations will open in Constanta, Bacau, Braila, Arad, Bucharest, Timisoara, Sibiu and Ramnicu Valcea. Each new opening is expected to cost up to €9m.
Kaufland entered the Romanian market in 2005. The German retailer currently has 102 hypermarkets and 12,700 employees is the country. Last year, it opened 13 new stores in Romania, while its net profit grew by more than 20 percent to €75m.
