7 January 2015

Mexican cement manufacturer Cemex’s acquisition of the Swiss cement maker Holcim’s Czech operations has been finalized. The deal is part of a wider transaction announced in 2013, with Holcim taking over Cemex’s operations in western Germany and the Netherlands. In the Czech Republic, the deal should result into a cement producer with an annual turnover of CZK 4bn, according to Cemex. The new company will operate under the Cemex brand and will be headquartered in Prague. It is expected to rank as number two in concrete and number three in cement, according to ČTK.
