Eurovia given 14 days for bridge repair plan

5 January 2015

Eurovia has been given two weeks to lay out plans for the reconstruction of two damaged motorway bridges near Ostrava. Czech Transport Minister and former Skanska head Dan Ťok said during a TV discussion that repair work on the bridges along the D1 motorway near Ostrava-Přívoz must commence no later than April. Ťok said that if Eurovia fails to start construction by then, the ministry will launch a new tender.

Eurovia completed the bridges six years ago but they are already suffering from cracks and shifting beams. Trucks have not been allowed to use them since September, while cars have been forced to reduce their speed. The government has been fighting with Eurovia over the 9 km section of the D47 motorway near Ostrava since 2011.
