Czech president Miloš Zeman has rejected conditions set down by the national radio broadcaster that he tape his weekly address to the nation. Behind the seemingly innocuous statement are six weeks of controversy, following his vulgarity spattered November 2 edition of “Talks from Lany”, which has traditionally been carried live. In that single speech, Zeman managed to go into the etymology of the name of the Russian punk rock group Pussy Riot, called its members them whores not worth defending, and spoke about a recently passed law that the Czech government had f***ed up. Czech Radio announced that it would no long carry the weekly talk live, a condition that Zeman has predictably refused.
