IDS threatens to stop works on Blanka tunnel in Prague

19 December 2014

The construction manager of the Blanka tunnel complex in Prague warns that it will halt completion work on the project if the city does not pay its bills. Inženýring dopravních staveb (IDS) says work will stop on Jan. 15. The company claims that the City of Prague has not paid its invoices for three years. The city argues, however, that IDS has been paid CZK 202m, but the company is now demanding more money than what is stipulated in its contract. The much-delayed Blanka tunnel, a crucial portion of the Prague’s inner ring road, is currently scheduled to open in spring. It will cost the city CZK 37bn, CZK 6bn more than originally estimated.
