Hotel Lomnica to get €5m facelift

30 October 2014

Nearly 20 years after closing, Hotel Lomnica in High Tatras is set to get a thorough facelift. The protected historical monument, located in the city of Tatranská Lomnica in Slovakia, has attracted a new investor who reportedly wants to renovate and expand the worn down hotel. While the name of the investor has not been made public, GFI studio has been put in charge of the new design. The studio recently oversaw the refurbishment of the five-star Kempinski hotel at Štrbské pleso or Sliezky dom, also in the High Tatras. Plans call for adding an additional 42 rooms to the 28-room Lomnica as well as a restaurant, café, congress space and underground parking. Lomnica will be reclassified as a four-star hotel after the €5m renovation is completed. Construction should start next spring 2015, with completion set for 2016.
