Rossman launches Polish 25k distribution center

29 October 2014

The Polish drugstore network Rossman launched its new regional distribution center this week for its operations in the north of the country. The 25,000 sqm distribution facility, which will employ 300 people for IT, administration, warehouse and transport jobs, opened in the town of Pyskowice. The investment cost PLN 70m and it took eleven months to complete. The workforce is expected to grow by another 100 employees over the next five years.

Marek Maruszak, CEO of Rossmann, said the center is the company’s biggest investment for the year. “With about 150 stores going online each year, we need to provide sufficient logistics support for our expansion plans,” he says, adding that the center will take some of the pressure of the company’s 25,000 sqm regional center that open in Grudziąc in 2012. Rossman currently uses a total of 100,000 sqm of distribution space in Poland, half of which is being provided by its center in Łódź.
