Prague at EXPO REAL: towards sustainability through the Metropolitan Land Use Plan

9 October 2014

At the 17th EXPO REAL, the commercial property and investment exhibition in Munich (Oct 6-8), the City of Prague presented its visions towards the sustainable development and so called intelligent urbanization. Current trends indicate that, on a global scale, urbanisation is taking place rapidly, which is why human life will be concentrated in metropolitan areas. It is predicted that two out of three of the world population will have lived in cities by 2050. “Cities should provide their inhabitants with optimum conditions for work and life alike. The previous trends towards developing housing projects in green field country areas resulted in enormous demands for the development of suburban infrastructure, not to speak about the time spent on commuting to work. This explains why the prepared Metropolitan Plan is aimed at increasing the density of buildings, which is based, among other things, on the fact that Prague is one of the cities with the lowest density of built-up areas in Europe,” said Milan Urban, Prague Councillor and Deputy Chairman of the City Development Planning Committee of the City of Prague Assembly, on the occasion of the presentation event PRAGUE CONNECTION attended by business partners and prospective investors. This networking event at Prague stand culminated with Live Concert of Marta Jandova, pop singer popular not only in the Czech Republic but also in Germany.
