Troja bridge opens

6 October 2014

The new Troja bridge in Prague, part of the city’s inner ring road, officially opened to the public this morning. Prague Mayor TomÔŔ Hudeček said in his opening speech that construction of the bridge faced many challenges. By this he seemed to refer to the fact that the costs went up dramatically after design changes were made. Originally estimated at around CZK 450m, the bridge ended up costing CZK 1bn. Hudeček said that Prague still needs an additional five bridges in order to provide better transit connections across the river. The Troja bridge was built in conjunction with the Blanka tunnel complex, which is scheduled to open Dec. 2.
