Vienna will not be connected by a motorway with Prague via Mikulov. Discussions between Czech transport minister Antonín Prachař and the governor of Niederösterreich Erwin Pröll have led to a decision that on the Czech side, only a two lane road will be built. This will bring forward the completion of the road to 2018 rather than 2021. The two politicians agreed that a motorway is not needed between Mikulov and the border, as current traffic levels do not make it necessary. On the Austrian side, the drivers will continue on a two-lane road for another 15 km before joining the motorway to Vienna. The section between Schrick-Poysbrunn should be completed in 2016-2017.
