Redevelopment of the former cycling stadium at Tehelne Pole in Bratislava Nove Mesto has run into a hurdle. The city of Bratislava announced the winner of an architectural competition for the best project for the site, but the results are being contested by one of the losers who charge the process was not conducted in a transparent manner. The party that has lodged the protest charges that the author of the winning projects works in the same department of the Chief Architect of Bratislava as one of the jurywomen.
The protest is likely to delay completion of the project, as the city planned to start work on the site in the first half of 2015. The 18,000 sqm area is to be redeveloped into a park with sports and recreational facilities.
