Slovakia’s gross foreign dept fell USD 3.12bn in April to end the second quarter of 2014 at USD 87.7bn. That result took some of the heat off what has otherwise been a year of growing debt, as Q1 2013’s result was USD 11bn lower. The Slovak National Bank reported that commercial banks saw their level of indebtedness rise over the past year by USD 2.1bn, while companies reportedly now owed USD 1.6bn more. The level of government debt rose by USD 160.1m from March 2014 to USD 38.3bn.
