Kion Group, a German industrial truck manufacturer, is planning to open a 20,000 sqm factory in Pilsen. The company hopes to start construction on the €12m facility in October and have it operational by early 2016. As part of Kion’s €60m investment plan for Central and Eastern Europe, the Pilsen factory will supply the region with warehouse technology products. Approximately 200 employees will be stationed there.
“The purpose of the new plant in the Czech Republic is to help the Kion Group to supply locally produced trucks for the non-premium segments in eastern and southern Europe,” the company said in a statement. “The group’s plan is to manufacture value and economy trucks as well as smaller warehouse-technology products tailored precisely to meet regional needs in these market segments.”
