Continental Barum is expanding its tire plant in the town of Otrokovice, with production from the new part of its facility for truck and bus tires due to begin in the fall. The new plant has been built while the existing one has undergone a complete reconstruction. The investment will allow the company to increase its output to 1.6 million tires annually from 900,000. This will require the hiring of an additional 360 employees, who will be added to the 4,400 the company already employs. Barum’s spokesman Zdeněk Novák told Hospodářské noviny that the new plant’s construction is the last expansion possible at its Otrkokovice complex.
