As a part of its innovation initiative for the CEE region, Google plans to launch a start-up incubator in Warsaw, following openings in London and Tel Aviv. The US company is reportedly already in the process of opening a 1,800 sqm office on the Warsaw market. No details on the exact location were disclosed at this stage. “It’s one of the activities to be implemented under our innovation and enterprise support program aimed at both Poland and the entire CEE region,” said Piotr Zalewski of Google Polska, adding that the IT giant hasn’t decided who will be in charge of the Polish project.
“Thanks to our Google for Entrepreneurs Kraków initiative, we were able to see the impressive dynamism of the Polish start-ups, which convinced us to partner with Warsaw University to launch the Digital Economy Lab, with a goal to strengthen the role of new technologies in today’s economy and society,” the company wrote in a statement. Its next campaign, New Europe Challengers, will be conducted in corporation with the Res Publicą, the Visegrad Fund and the Financial Times. The program aims to identify new innovation leaders in the region.
