Slovak national stadium project investigated

4 June 2014

A regional prosecutor in Bratislava will be looking into the construction of the Slovak national football stadium after questions arose over to the legality of the plan. The suspicion is that the investor’s current plan to build commercial and residential buildings along with the stadium isn’t possible under the current planning for the area. The city is defending the project, with the mayor’s office director claiming that the regulation plan for the area allows for such development and that the public had the opportunity to question planning issues when the permits were being discussed publicly. Construction of the new stadium, which will have space for around 20,000 seats, is expected to cost up to €72m.
