Mortgage volume increases by 10.5% in April

The home mortgage volume increased in April in 10 counties across Romania, according to data released by the national bank. Mortgage requests were up on average by 10.5 percent from the previous month. Iasi County reported the biggest increase, with 18 percent more mortgage requests, followed by Timis (15.9 percent), Arad (13.4 percent), Cluj (12.6 percent), Brasov (12.1 percent) and Bucharest (11.8) counties. Mortgage requests totaled RON 35.91bn for the month, up 1.5 percent from March, according to the national bank. Lower interest rates and increased revenues were the main factors behind the growth.
