Slovak joblessness falls slighly in March

9 May 2014

Slovak unemployment fell 0.2% in March to 13.28% compared to February, while the figure was 1.4 percent lower than it was in March 2012. However, the total loss of joblessness over the first two years of prime minister Robert Fico’s administration is just 0.4%. The country’s statistical office revealed that the number of counties where more than 20% of the employable population was out of work had fallen to 15, compared to 21 a year ago. All 15 are located in three of the country’s regions: Prešov, Banskobystrica and the Košice region. Overall in March, the country had 358,300 people out of work, which marked a drop of nearly 38,000.
