The German retail operator Lidl is set to begin construction on its new 44,000 sqm distribution center in Poland. The new build will go up in the city of Bydgoszcz. The company has reportedly paid more than PLN 18m for the 16 ha plot. The investor has just secured the building permit for the project, which will be Lidl’s eighth distribution center in Poland. The retailer also has investments in Jankowice, Gliwice, Strykowo, Rusocin, Legnica, Brzozówka and Turzyn. The new investment will add nearly 200 jobs to the Polish labor market.
“We had been considering a number of other locations, including Toruń, Grudziądz and another plot near Bydgoszcz,” says Andrzej Porębski, a board member of Lidl Polska.
