Polish GDP to grow by 3.3% in 2014

16 April 2014

The Finance Ministry expects Poland’s economy to expand by 3.3 percent this year, up from an earlier estimate of 2.5 percent, Deputy Prime Minister Mateusz Szczurek said today. Poland’s economy is expected to grow by 3.8 percent in 2015 and exceed 4 percent in 2017.

Szcurek said growth will be driven largely by a recovering domestic appetite. This, however, will not be seen until 2015. “Along with a recovering consumption, we’ll see the county’s labor market improving in 2015,” he said. The unemployment rate in Poland is expected to drop to 10 percent this year and fall below 8 percent by 2017.

At the same time, inflation is expected to hit 1.2 percent this year, down from 2.4 percent predicted earlier by the Polish government. The inflation rate held at 0.7 percent in February and March.
