Hungary nets €24.2bn in EU funding

12 February 2013

Hungary is set to receive €24.2bn from the EU’s 2014-2020 budget. Funding for Hungary during the next six-year period amounts to HUF 712,000 per capita, up from 660,000 in the 2007-2013 budget period. “We achieved everything possible,” Prime Minister Viktor Orbán told Parliament, calling the recent budget summit in Brussels a “success” despite the fact that Hungary received €25.7bn in the previous budget period from 2007 – 2013. Orban was pleased that the necessary state contribution would not grow from 15% to 25% as had been feared.
