European Commission announced it will unblock the Sectoral Operational Programme Human Resources Development (SOPHRD) and to resume payments to Romania within the coming days. The news follows an auditing mission by European experts between Jan. 29 and Feb. 1.
EC officials said they would pay Romania for reimbursement applications submitted in December, amounting to €148m, according to a Romania Radio International report. SOPHRD was suspended by Brussels at the beginning of August because of irregularities discovered in several state projects over the last three years.
