20 percent of EU 2014-2020 budget will be used for environmental and climate protection program in the region. Final talks on the matter are set to be held between European Parliament and the Irish Presidency, who must approve the new budget, according to a European Commissioner spokesman Olivier Bailly.
He said the EC sees the step as essential to securing Europe’s energy supply, and to creating a new, low-carbon economy. “This will increase Europe’s competitiveness and new, ecological jobs.”
